Finalist – Prix Picto de la Mode 2024 : Jeanne Dubourg

Fashion photographer based in Paris, Jeanne Dubourg was born in Saint-Amand-Montrond in 2002 and moved to Paris in 2020 to study photography. In 2022 she completed her studies and began working in a studio to gain a deeper insight into the world of fashion photography. Her work focuses on dreamlike situations in which women are in the spotlight, creating captivating and bewitching worlds. Fascinated by beauty and style, she creates narrative photographs, visual confidences that express deep thoughts and reach a wide audience thanks to her closeness to the viewer.

“Between submission and freedom, in the shadows and the light, a conflict emerges, with everything at odds. This series depicts the story of a woman lost between dependence and resilience through black and white. In these vivid tableaux, a mixture is created, where strong gazes seem suffocated by the weight of submission, while others, evasive, express the desire to break free. The eyes sparkle with rebellion and a glimmer of insubordination in the face of the invisible chains that hold them back. What emerges for me is a quest for identity, a search for harmony and balance with oneself. The last image is the take off, where the hope lies of finding one’s place between submission and freedom: a poignant symbol of a metamorphosis in which we rise to fully embrace our own essence”.
