AN EXPERIMENTATION AND CREATIVE RESIDENCY SUPPORTED BY A NETWORK OF EXPERTS
PICTO LAB is an annual residency programme that offers a photographer an opportunity to experiment and create within PICTO’s Parisian network of laboratories and production workshops for three months (May, June and July 2025).
For this PICTO LAB programme, Picto Foundation joins forces with various partners who provide support and help publicise the work carried out by the artist-in-residence. These partners are the a ppr oc he salon, rentingART, Nielsen and Fujifilm.
PICTO LAB aims to facilitate the development of a new project, in particular by allowing a photographer to test techniques and protocols and to use them in unexpected ways to go beyond or explore new potential avenues for photography and its formal rendering.
PICTO LAB offers photographers and artists-in-residence the opportunity, in collaboration with the craftspeople at PICTO laboratories, to explore through experimentation the possibilities of the various skills available.
PICTO LAB is also a place for the photographer to meet and establish contacts with professionals who can contribute to the development of his or her work or interact with the project in residence.
TO ASSIST THE PHOTOGRAPHER, PICTO LAB INCLUDES :
1- A residency allowance of €4,000.
2- A grant of €10,000 for the experimental phase and production of the works in the PICTO production workshops and laboratories.
3- The photographer will have access to the production facilities of the PICTO laboratories to conduct their project. They will be accompanied along the way by a mentor who will work with them to guide and meet production needs.
4- In addition to the various production tools available, residents and artisans alike will be looking to
go beyond the constraints of these tools, in favor of an experimental, research-led approach, inviting
everyone to broaden their usual fields of creation and production.
5- rentingArt will host the photographer in residence at Espace Co42 in Clichy over a three-month
period from May to July. This studio-living space will enable the artist to devote time to his or her work
and create synergies with the photography community, through open studios and meetings.
6- Support from Nielsen for the framing of the pieces produced during the residency.
7- The winning project will be presented in November 2025 at the a ppr oc he salon.
