Finalist – Prix Picto de la Mode 2024 : Alan Marty

Alan Marty was born in November 1993, in Burgundy. After studying in Hypokhâgne and Khâgne, he turned towards practical training around images. First attracted by moving images, he joined a Parisian film school. His filmmaking practice displays numerous photographic influences. It was when he began writing a screenplay that he developed his own photographic practice, first to nourish his writing and then, at the same time, independently. His photos, with an intimate aesthetic, show boys at a pivotal age, in a masculine version of the woman-child. Encouraged by the moving image, and motivated by documentary research, his shots reflect a desire for spontaneity, and a taste for “on the spot”. So, in the majority of his series, the photographer works with natural light, to leave room for realism. His work has been published in Vanity Teen, Modern Weekly China and FuckingYoung!. He has signed several campaigns for the Roger Vivier brand as well as shoots for various brands.

« Les Grandes Vacances »

Les Grandes Vacances is a series designed as a photographic collection that explores and celebrates childhood, adolescence and the sweet memories attached to these periods of life. Capturing spontaneous moments of youthful and authentic happiness, photographer Alan Marty seeks to transcribe the innocence and joy present in the photo albums that sit on family shelves. Each image in the series captures the effervescent energy of the male models in moments of complicity, play and letting go specific to the summer holidays. The settings chosen, many of them outdoors, reflect the atmosphere of summer days, from the natural light of dusk to the neon lights of the funfairs. Les Grandes Vacances seeks to freeze these fleeting moments where carefreeness, camaraderie, self-discovery and first loves punctuated the summer months, transporting the viewer on a nostalgic journey towards their own memories.
